On March 15th, World Consumer Rights Day, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched its new consumer website called “Chemicals in our life”.
The website is dedicated to making consumers more aware of the benefits and risks of chemicals in their lives. On the home page ECHA recommends that consumers use their “right to ask” for substances in articles, according to the European Chemicals Regulation (REACH). Consumers may use existing letter templates or smartphone apps that ECHA recommends for their requests.
Hints and tips for consumers are listed which help them to make informed purchasing decisions and handle chemicals and articles safely.
The website also covers chemicals at the workplace and gives information on topical subjects, such as, tattoo inks, glyphosate, bisphenol A and nanomaterials.
The website is available in 23 EU languages.
