All AskREACH IT tools – the smartphone app, web app, database and supplier front-end – can only be used until the end of the year. Consumers will only be able to submit SVHC enquiries via the apps until 1 November 2026, to ensure that companies have sufficient time to respond to the enquiries by the end of the year.
There are many reasons for discontinuing the tools. On the one hand, they are not used to a sufficient extent by either consumers or businesses to ensure that costs and benefits are balanced. On the other hand, the regulatory landscape is currently changing: the SCIP database is also expected to be discontinued, and under the EU Ecodesign Regulation the first delegated acts are being drawn up, which will include information requirements for substances of very high concern.
We would like to thank all users of the tools and all our supporters for their interest and commitment. Of course, consumers can still send enquiries to companies regarding substances of very high concern, and companies remain obliged under REACH to respond.
